Privacy

ClassicNotes is built to be a quiet place to read about music. We collect very little information about visitors and we do not sell or share what little we do collect.

What we collect automatically

Like every web server in the world, ours records the request line of every page view: the URL requested, the date and time, the referring page (if any), and the user-agent string of your browser. We use these logs to understand which scores are popular, to spot broken links, and to defend against abuse. Logs are kept for ninety days and then deleted. They are not shared with anyone.

Cookies

ClassicNotes does not set any first-party cookies of its own. We have no login, no shopping cart, and no personalization, so we have nothing to remember about you between sessions.

The advertising slots on our pages are served by third-party ad networks (currently Google AdSense). These networks may set their own cookies in your browser to measure ad impressions and to choose which ads to show you. You can opt out of personalised advertising in your Google account settings or by visiting aboutads.info.

Analytics

We use a privacy-respecting, server-side analytics setup that records aggregate counts only. We do not use Google Analytics, Hotjar, FullStory, Mixpanel, or any session-recording tool. We do not build profiles of individual visitors and we do not link page views to any identifier we could share with anyone else.

Downloads

The PDF score downloads on this site are served from third-party archives — primarily IMSLP — not from our own servers. When you click a download link, your browser communicates directly with the source archive, and that archive's privacy policy applies to the request. We do not see, log, or track which scores you download.

Children

ClassicNotes is suitable for readers of any age, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are a parent or teacher pointing students at the catalog, you do not need to worry about our site collecting anything from them — there is nothing to collect.

Your rights under GDPR and similar laws

If you are in the EU, the UK, California, or any other jurisdiction with comparable data-protection rules, you have the right to ask what information we hold about you. The honest answer for almost every visitor is "nothing identifiable." If you'd like a more detailed answer, write to us at editors@classicnotes.example and we'll respond within thirty days.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change how we handle visitor data, we'll update this page and date the change at the bottom. We will not retroactively change how older data is used.
